How to Use Instructor-Graded Assessments

Instructors can administer and grade student assessments within the platform by toggling "Instructor Graded" to be checked.

Create Instructor Graded Assessment Module

For new modules, CREATE a new assessment module and POPULATE the title. CREATE questions or SELECT questions from the question bank. Once the assessment module is ready to be added, SELECT the ADD ASSESSMENT button.

From here, the user can select the INSTRUCTOR GRADED checkbox. Once the modules are configured, SELECT the DONE button.

For existing modules, SELECT the EDIT MODULES button.

After selecting EDIT MODULES, MOTAR will present the user with the following modal. Here the user will see class information and a CREATE A NEW VERSION option.

SELECT the START NEW VERSION button the instructor can create, edit, and delete modules. Once the modules are configured, SELECT the DONE button.

Student View

From the student's view, the instructor-graded module will show in the course structure.

The student will see the following message when launching an instructor-graded module.

Instructor Graded Assessment: Pass/Fail

As an instructor, the user can use pass/fail module scoring on instructor-graded assessments. This will allow the instructor to either pass the entire module or fail the entire module with no point calculation required.

How to Grade Pass/Fail Instructor Grade Assessments

As an instructor, the user must grade student attempts on instructor-graded assessments.

From the INSTRUCTOR DASHBOARD, SELECT the student that needs their assessment to be graded.

SELECT the LAUNCH ASSESSMENT button and SELECT the student's answers. Once all of the assessment questions have been answered, select the COMPLETE ASSESSMENT button to post their answers to the module details as an attempt.

After submitting a student's answers, find the instructor-graded module and SELECT the GRADE button. The instructor will see an option to mark the assessment as complete. By selecting STUDENT COMPLETED LESSON button, the module will be marked as passed.

Instructor Graded Assessment: Point-Based Scoring

As an instructor, the user can configure point-based scoring on the instructor-graded module. This will set a point threshold required to pass the module.

How to Configure Point-Based Instructor Graded Assessments

SELECT the P/F Icon found on the module. This will present the user with a modal shown below.

SELECT the USE POINT-BASE SCORING CHECKBOX to switch the module to be graded using a point system. POPULATE the both ENTER POINTS fields. Once complete, SELECT the SUBMIT button.

How to Grade Point Based Instructor Graded Assessments

SELECT the LAUNCH ASSESSMENT button and SELECT the student's answers. Once all of the assessment questions have been answered, SELECT the COMPLETE ASSESSMENT button to post their answers to the module details as an attempt.

After submitting a student's answers, find the instructor-graded module and SELECT the GRADE button. The instructor will then be required to enter the student's score in the modal shown below.

For reference, the set Pass Threshold (P/F) will be displayed below the score input box.

Once the score has been populated, SELECT the SUBMIT SCORE button.
