Chapter 4 | Generate Sandbox Users
In order to test the app listing created in Chapter 3 of this tutorial, users will generate and configure Sandbox user accounts to test the app listing in the MOTAR Sandbox Training environment.

In order to test the app listing created in Chapter 3 of this tutorial, users will generate and configure Sandbox user accounts to test the app listing in the MOTAR Sandbox Training environment.

4.1. Users will LOG IN to the MOTAR STUDIO SANDBOX environment to generate a user account, which will be granted Instructor Permissions.
The page can also be accessed by selecting SANDBOX from the MOTAR Studio menu bar, then selecting USERS from the Sandbox dropdown menu
4.1.1. CLICK the GENERATE USER button to generate a user account that will be used for testing sandbox applications.
4.1.1.1. The new Sandbox user account will be generated at the end of the Sandbox Users page.
If there are multiple Sandbox Users on the page, the user may have to scroll to find the newly generated account at the bottom of the list.
The CREATED date listed on the new Sandbox user account cards will reflect the date step 4.1.1. was completed.
4.2. The user will now customize the Sandbox user account so it is easily recognizable moving through the tutorial.
4.2.1. SELECT the EDIT button on the new Sandbox user account card.
4.2.2. CHANGE the FIRST and LAST NAME to something memorable and unique.
The Sandbox user accounts must have unique names. To ensure the last names are unique, recommend using the nomenclature <>Instructor (user account that was just generated) and <>Student (the second accout that will be generated later in the tutorial).
For example, the user account currently being edited could be given the last name: SmithInstructor.
User account names cannot contain symbols (i.e. hyphen -, slash /, comma ,).
4.2.3. As an OPTIONAL customization, SELECT the current profile PICTURE to UPLOAD a new IMAGE.
4.2.4. POPULATE all REQUIRED FIELDS (annotated with an asterisk *, red border, and a note displayed at the bottom of the Edit User Modal).
The user may select either Military or Civilian. For the purpose of this tutorial, the selection will not impact the tutorial outcome.
4.2.5. CHANGE the HANDLE (username) to something memorable and unique. For example, first-last-instructor or first-last-student.
4.2.6. CLICK the SUBMIT button to save requested changes.
4.3. The user will now assign app permissions to the new Sandbox user account, which will allow the Sandbox user to access the Sandbox App Listing created in Chapter 3 of this tutorial.
4.3.1. SELECT the CUSTOMIZE button on the new Sandbox user account card. SELECT APP in the CUSTOMIZE menu.
4.3.2. SELECT the NEW SANDBOX APP LISTING that needs to be tested.
Select the app the user created in Chapter 3 of this tutorial, which will likely have a different title than the example image below.
4.3.3. The Sandbox user account card will be updated to include the category APPS with the selected Sandbox App Listing displayed.
4.4. The user will now assign permissions to the new Sandbox user account.
Once the permissions are granted, the Sandbox user will be ready to test the app linked in section 4.3. of this tutorial in the MOTAR Sandbox Training environment.
4.4.1. SELECT the CUSTOMIZE button on the new Sandbox user account card. SELECT PERMISSION in the CUSTOMIZE menu.
4.4.2. To grant Instructor Permissions, SELECT the + ICON next to the following Access Groups: U.S. DEPARTMENT OF DEFENSE, INSTRUCTOR, and U.S. GOVERNMENT. VERIFY there is a - ICON next to the Access Group MOTAR USER (this access group is granted by default upon account generation).
4.4.3. CLICK the DONE button to complete adding the Instructor Permission to the Sandbox user.
4.4.4. The Sandbox user account card will be updated to display INSTRUCTOR.
A Sandbox Instructor initially assumes the roles of Course Owner and Course Manager. They can also Create a Course.
Recommend saving the username and password for the Instructor Sandbox user account in an easily accessible location, as it will be utilized later in the tutorial.
4.5. Users will also generate a second user account, which will be granted Student Permissions.
The page can be accessed by selecting SANDBOX from the MOTAR Studio menu bar, then selecting USERS from the Sandbox dropdown menu.
