How to Send and Receive Chat Messages

MOTAR Chat provides Government Users a simple and effective way to communicate.

Government Users can use MOTAR Chat to communicate directly with other users.
To start a new conversation, CLICK the + ICON in the left sidebar of the Chat Services homepage.
A SEARCH modal will launch where the user can search for other Government Users' handles. CLICK the + BUTTON to add the desired member(s) to the new chat message. Once all member(s) are added, CLICK the SUBMIT button to launch a new message.
CLICK the TRASH CAN icon to remove user(s).
The user has the ability to format the text using MOTAR's built-in Rich Text Editor.
Once a chat message thread has been created, users can send message text and/or attachment(s).
SELECT the MESSAGE from the left panel to begin.
POPULATE the TEXT FIELD with the desired message.
Once ready to send, CLICK the GREEN ARROW button. All users in the message thread will receive a notification and the message will be displayed for them to see.
The message text will appear gray until it completes sending.
The user has the ability to edit or delete messages after they have been sent, CLICK the three dots located to the right of a message that the user has sent to make a selection. SELECT the EDIT option.
The message will open in a modal that the user can then edit as needed before SELECTING the UPDATE button to save changes or the CANCEL button to exit editing.
To Delete, from the three dots SELECT the DELETE option. This will open the CONFIRM ACTION modal, SELECT the CONFIRM button to delete the message or the CANCEL button to exit the modal.
SELECT the MESSAGE from the left panel to begin.
CLICK the PAPERCLIP icon. When prompted, SELECT the desired FILE.
The FILE SCANNING MODAL will launch. Once scanning is complete, CLOSE the MODAL.
Once ready to send, CLICK the GREEN ARROW button.
All users in the message thread will receive a notification and the attachment(s) will be displayed for them to see and download.
To download an attachment, CLICK the THUMBNAIL image in the chat message.
A modal will launch. From here, the user can CLICK the DOWNLOAD button to download the attachment or CLICK the DONE button (or X icon) to return to the chat message.
New chat messages will be displayed by CLICKING the CHAT icon on the top right of the MOTAR Web banner (to the left of the NOTIFICATION icon and user's profile photo).
From here, the user can CLICK the MARK ALL AS READ link to clear the notification(s) or navigate to MOTAR Chat Service to mark as read and provide a response.
To do this, CLICK the FLAG icon before sending the message (to the right of the PAPERCLIP icon used to add attachments).
Once sent, the message will be marked with a RED FLAG icon, indicating to all chat recipients that acknowledgement is requested.
Users have the option of flagging individual chat message to request acknowledgement of receipt.
To do this, CLICK the FLAG ICON before sending the message (to the right of the PAPERCLIP icon used to add attachments).
Once sent, the message will be marked with a RED FLAG icon, indicating to all chat recipients that acknowledgement is requested.
The acknowledgement request will also be indicated in the Chat notification sent to chat member(s).
In the chat message, CLICK the RED FLAG icon to turn it GREEN, thus acknowledging receipt.
