Backing Up Your Instance

Backups can only be performed by the Platform Owner!

Backing up your MOTAR Ghost instance is as simple as downloading a file.

Simply login as the Platform Owner:

Go to the ADMIN Section > Managed Data tab and click "Backup Data".

An information list will show each backup and when the backup was performed. Backups are NOT stored on the instance!

The backup file is saved locally! It is your responsibility to ensure this file is stored properly and in a secure location.

A save file dialog popup will prompt you to save the backup file locally. This file contains ALL of your instance data (all users, assets, etc).

Your download time may vary depending on the amount of data stored and your bandwidth, please be patient while the file is compressed and downloaded.

Restore from Backup

WARNING!

Restoring MOTAR Ghost from a backup is ABSOLUTELY destructive! ALL data will be restored to the backup version and any data entered since the backup will be lost.

Restoring your instance from a backup is performed from the same menu as backing up. It should be noted that restoring from a back is a destructive process, all data entered since the last backup will be lost!

As a Platform Manager navigate to the Manage Data tab:

Select Restore Data

A popup will open. Read carefully and click "Select File to Restore"

A file manager window will open. Select the backup file you would like to restore.

If the *.enc backup file downloaded does not show up in the file dialog, change your settings to show "All Files"

WARNING!

Restoring data from a backup will wipe out all existing data. This action is completely destructive. All previous data will be replaced by the backup. This includes assets, studios, and users.

During the restore process, your screen will only show a loading wheel.

This process may take several minutes, depending on your bandwidth and data size. Please be patient and do not close the browser!

We are currently updating the system to give you feedback during the data restoration process. For now, you will need to wait up to 10 mintues and then refresh the page. You will be required to login to MOTAR.

Once the data is restored, you will be logged out of the system and will need to log back in.
